The Stan Cassidy Foundation’s Community Grants provide direct-to-patient support through our Care & Comfort, Bikes ’n’ Trikes, and Equipment Recycling programs and through our annual support of the Patient Christmas Party. Your contribution to one of our Community Grants helps Stan Cassidy patients and their families feel more comfortable and cared for, and provides the tools they need to rebuild their life in their home community.
Care & Comfort Program
Sometimes it is the small things. Each year we grant hundreds of small cash grants and items valued at $10 - $300 – things like TV remotes and cup holders that work on wheelchairs to financial assistance for an adaptive life jacket or family travel to and from the Centre. Your donation to this program removes obstacles for the lowest cost to the most people. It brightens the day for the Centre’s clinicians too!
...just wanted to thank you and the team....Jeffery...just received his package of adaptive tools to assist him with eating and drinking. They are gratefully appreciated.

Bikes 'n' Trikes Program
This is one of only two programs in Canada that provides specially-adapted bikes and trikes to patients whose treatment plans call for bike riding as an integral part of their therapy. Each patient is individually-assessed and the bikes are custom-designed and -fitted. Donations to this program improve cardiovascular health, respiratory activity, bone growth, strengthening of anti-gravity muscles and so much more! The Harrison McCain Foundation, President’s Choice Children’s Charity, CIBC Children’s Foundation and the Ys Men are among the great supporters of this program.
…my trike…has made me very happy….To feel the wind in my face gives me freedom….The trike is made especially for me….

Equipment Recycling Program
Gently-used mobility equipment is donated, appraised, receipted, stored, refurbished or cleaned (when necessary) and granted to Stan Cassidy Centre patients, the Stan Cassidy Centre or our health charity partners. The Foundation helps families find a meaningful use for used equipment through a comfortable and caring process that keeps equipment out of local landfills.
When Josh passed away we knew that we wanted to donate his chair, bath lift and other items to the Foundation to help other families in their time of need. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a charitable tax receipt for our donations. In my opinion, the Stan Cassidy Foundation is wonderful and definitely fulfilling their promise to patients, by helping them recover from illness, overcome obstacles and adapt to changing circumstances.

Patient Christmas Party
Talk about tradition. Every year for nearly 60 years, we have partnered with the Epsilon Ys Men and Ys Menettes and the Stan Cassidy Centre’s staff, along with other community-minded individuals to co-host a Christmas Party for in-patients. Donations to this initiative help pay for the decorations, food, gifts and festive cheer that warm patients and their families at what might otherwise be a difficult time of year.
Once I started to decorate the designated areas it was nice to hear back all the favourable comments…. Patients and their families comment on how nice it is to see and feel all the community support at this time of year. I look forward to each November now and each hour spent at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation.
