The Stan Cassidy Centre’s Paediatric Neuromotor Team is participating in the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine conference this week, thanks to an education grant of $22,000 from the Stan Cassidy Foundation.
While at the conference, which runs from September 13 to 17 in Montreal, staff will learn about new and emerging knowledge and best practices in care for patients with cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental disorders. Stan Cassidy staff will also be presenting at the conference to showcase research and state of the art programming in place at Stan Cassidy Centre.
“We’re so pleased to fund this education opportunity for Stan Cassidy staff so that they can continue to offer the best patient care possible at the Centre,” said Stan Cassidy Foundation Board Chair John Travis. “It is through careful management of our Research & Education Endowment fund and continued support from our donors that we’re able to fund important opportunities such as this each year.”
This year’s grant was supported by a generous anonymous donation for nearly half of the grant value.
The conference offers the opportunity for Paediatric Neuro-motor Team members of multiple disciplines to keep up-to-date on the latest evidence-based practices and knowledge relating to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and technical advances in care for persons with cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental disorders.
“We pride ourselves on being the centre of excellence for providing assessment, treatment, research and education in pediatric neuromotor disorders,” said Krista Fraser, Clinical Facilitator of the Stan Cassidy Centre’s Paediatric Neuromotor Team. “The knowledge our multi-disicplinary team gains at this conference will be immediately applied to the benefit of patients and will be shared in our consultations with local primary therapists. We are so thankful to the foundation and the donors that made this opportunity possible”
Each August, the Stan Cassidy Foundation issues research and education grants focused on leading-edge patient care.
