Stan Cassidy Foundation Receives Award from Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists

The Stan Cassidy Foundation has received this year’s Citation Award for New Brunswick from the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).

The CAOT Citation Award acknowledges organizations, programs and individuals who aren’t occupational therapists for their contributions to the health and well-being of Canadians. The Foundation is one of 10 recipients of this national award for 2017 and is this year’s only recipient from New Brunswick.

It was a group of occupational therapists who work in the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation who  nominated the Foundation for its support of occupational therapists in their day-to-day work of promoting health in occupational therapy clients.

“We are so pleased the Stan Cassidy Foundation was awarded the 2017 CAOT Citation Award,” says Ellen Snider, Executive Director of the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists. “Whether through educational and research grants or funding for equipment, the Foundation has provided ongoing support of the work of occupational therapists and their clients at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation.”

The award recognizes the Foundation’s funding of initiatives such as educational and research opportunities for Centre staff, patient equipment that is largely not covered by private health insurance, and large projects such as the building the Stan Cassidy Therapeutic Park and outfitting Kiwanis House.

“We are honoured and grateful that the Foundation has been recognized by CAOT,” says Alissa Lee, Executive Director of the Stan Cassidy Foundation. “We’re proud to support the work of the excellent professionals at the Stan Cassidy Centre, including occupational therapists, to provide a high standard of care to patients. This support is made possible through the generous contributions of our donors.”
